A memorial of over a thousand crosses and a segment of the wall for those who died trying to cross.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, and US President Barack Obama. One of these world leaders is not like the others. One of these world leaders is missing at the Berlin Wall toady. Our President could not go because he is preparing to visit with the military junta that have controlled Burma since 1962.
The American Spectator has a good piece about the story here
German Chancellor Angela Merkel was raised in East Germany. Helping her country celebrate its reunification, and with it the bloodless revolution that ended the second-most oppressive, murderous regime in the history of the world, will be British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, and Lech Walesa. But no Barack Obama.
Today is a celebration of the reunification of Germany and the fall of the Berlin Wall. We would not know it though. Americans have better things to do apparently. For instance, Google is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street. PBS for the win!
