ALLAHPUNDIT of Hot Air posted two versions of Obama’s video address to the Berlin Wall. The version played on the BBC, and the one played on Russian TV. Link here.
the unedited BBC transmission and the censored version that ran on Russian state television (which omits the passage about the Declaration of Independence but not, curiously, the one about the Iron Curtain), thus proving that the old Soviet spirit is alive and kicking.
The White House needed to remind the people of Berlin that we recently made history too! Hilary Clinton said
“I am deeply honored to introduce now. A message from someone who represents the fall of different kinds of walls. Walls of discrimination, of stereotype, of character. The walls that too often are in minds and hearts. Let me introduce a message from President Barack Obama.”
Obama then goes onto reference himself in his own two and a half minute speech.
“Few would have foreseen … that a united Germany would be led by a woman from Brandenburg or that their American ally would be led by a man of African descent. But human destiny is what human beings make of it,”
Berlin wall falling? Standing up to the Evil Empire? That stuff is child’s play. We recently conquered our own bigotry!
Here is a cool video from Telegraph TV about the Berlin Wall.
